Is the Phanda range actually the cheapest way to eat at Steers?

The Real Value range is not Steers’ best value, and here is why

This is the one thing the menu layout genuinely hides. The Real Value burgers are priced as the burger alone, with no chips. The Steers Burger, Ribster Burger and Chicken Burger are all R54.90, or R64.90 with cheese, and the same R10 cheese step from the Phanda range applies here too.

But the Phanda Rave, sitting one tier below in the budget range, is R34.90 with small chips. So moving up to the Real Value tier costs you R20 more and gives you less food. Add Hand-Cut Chips at R39.90 to a R54.90 Steers Burger and you are at R94.80, which is nearly three times the Phanda Rave for a broadly comparable plate.

Verdict: the Real Value range only makes sense if you specifically want the Ribster or the Chicken Burger, or you genuinely do not want chips. For everything else, order from Phanda.
