Quick answer: which pizza chain is cheaper?

Debonairs and Roman’s are the two national pizza chains most South Africans order from, and they sell a very similar mix of budget, mid-range and premium pizzas. We lined up the prices on our Debonairs and Roman’s menu pages, which were checked in September 2026, to show where each one is cheaper and whether the multi-pizza deals are worth it.

Pepperoni shows the biggest difference. Roman’s puts it in its budget Sava Flava range at R84.90 for a large, while Debonairs sells it as a Clazzic at R124.90, R40 more for the same kind of pizza. The Margherita is the one pizza where the two chains are close. If you like a pizza that Roman’s puts in the Sava Flava range (BBQ Chicken, Ham, Mushroom Margherita, Pepperoni, Hot Chicken or Sweetelicious Chicken), Roman’s is the clear pick.

Do the two-pizza deals actually save money?

Both chains push multi-pizza deals, so we compared each one against buying the same pizzas one at a time at the normal price.

The Roman’s double deal is exactly the price of two single large Sava Flavas, so it saves nothing; it just makes ordering easier. At Debonairs, On The Double® ended on 12 October 2026, and while it ran it only paid off if you picked the pricier Real Deal® flavours. If both pizzas are Margheritas, two single large Real Deal® Margheritas (R84.90 each) come to R169.80, which is R10.10 less than the deal. The Clazzic and Deluxe doubles are real savings.
