Cheapest KFC meals: fried chicken box with seasoned fries

The Cheapest Meals at KFC South Africa, Under R50 and for Families

The cheapest thing you can buy at KFC is a Soft Twirl for R9.90. The cheapest thing with chicken in it is the Snack Burger at R24.90, and the cheapest meal with actual pieces of chicken is the Streetwise Two at R39.90. Those three prices answer most of what people want to know. The rest of this guide to the cheapest KFC meals is for when you need a bit more food than that, or you’re feeding a family and want to keep it near R100.

Every price here is what you pay at the till, as we last saw it on KFC menu boards in early September 2026. The same food through a delivery app costs roughly a quarter more.

Under R30

ItemWhat you getPrice
Snack BurgerSmall chicken burgerR24.90
Regular ChipsChips onlyR24.90
Streetwise Snack Pack BurgerSnack Burger and small chipsR29.90
Streetwise Snack Pack PopsSmall popcorn chicken and small chipsR29.90
Crunch BurgerChicken fillet burgerR29.90

The two Snack Packs are the pick here. For R5 more than a Snack Burger on its own you get small chips with it, which turns a snack into lunch. The Crunch Burger is a bigger burger for the same R29.90, but no chips. One warning: KFC’s own ordering site now charges R32.90 to add a Crunch Burger to a meal, so it may cost a little more than R29.90 at some stores.

R30 to R50

ItemWhat you getPrice
Double Stack BurgerBurger onlyR32.90
Dunked Crunch BurgerCrunch Burger in KFC’s Dunked sauceR34.90
WrapstaChicken wrapR37.90
Streetwise Two2 pieces of chicken with small chips or papR39.90
Streetwise Bucket For 11 piece, 2 Zinger wings and small chipsR42.90
4 Zinger WingsWings onlyR44.90
Streetwise Dunked Bucket For 11 piece, 2 Dunked wings and small chipsR47.90
Colonel BurgerBurger onlyR49.90

If you want chicken on the bone, the Streetwise Two is the one to beat. Two pieces and chips for R39.90 is about R20 a piece, and nothing else on the menu gets close for a single person. The Bucket For 1 costs R3 more and swaps one piece for two Zinger wings, which is the better order if you like a bit of heat. We’ve looked at the Streetwise Two in more detail in our Streetwise 2 guide.

Can you get a KFC meal with a drink for under R50?

Only just, and only with a burger. KFC’s ordering site charges R20.90 to add a Buddy cold drink, which gives you these totals:

MealWith a Buddy
Snack BurgerR45.80
Snack Pack (burger or pops)R50.80
Streetwise TwoR60.80
Streetwise Bucket For 1R63.80

So a Snack Burger and a drink is the only full combo under R50, and the Snack Pack misses by 80 cents. Bring your own water and the Streetwise Two is back in the running.

Feeding a family for around R100 to R150

MealWhat’s in itPrice

9 Piece Bucket9 pieces, chicken onlyR149.90
Family FiestaFamily meal, with 4 small drinks according to KFC’s own postR159.90

The Streetwise Five at R99.90 is the only family-sized meal under R100, and five pieces goes a fair way with a couple of mini loaves on the side. For two people who want drinks included, the 2 Can Dine Buddy at R144.90 saves you ordering everything separately. For four, the Big 6 Deal gives you more chicken for less.

If you’re buying mostly for the chicken, don’t overlook the 9 Piece Bucket. At R149.90 it’s R16.66 a piece, which is cheaper than any Streetwise meal per piece. Add a large chips for R27.90 and you’ve fed four people for under R180. For the bigger family boxes, see our KFC family meals page.

Four ways to pay less at KFC

  1. Order at the counter or collect. On Mr D, a Streetwise Two is R52.90 instead of R39.90, before any delivery fee. We’ve compared 25 items in our look at delivery app prices.
  2. Watch for the day deals. On Mondays and Tuesdays KFC has advertised 10 for R129, which beats every bucket on price per piece. What’s running now is on our KFC specials page.
  3. Join KFC Rewards in the KFC app. It’s free, and members get four automatic offers every month plus meal rewards for completing monthly missions.
  4. Buy a bigger bucket than you think you need. The last six pieces of a 21 Piece Bucket cost R10 each, compared with about R20 a piece in a Streetwise meal. Our guide to KFC prices by the piece has the full breakdown.
