Galito's flame-grilled chicken meal with chips and pap in South Africa

Galito’s Menu Prices in South Africa (2026)

Galito’s sits in an odd spot in South African flame-grilled chicken. A full chicken costs R175, which puts it R50 above Pedros and R30 below Nando’s. Not the cheap option, not the premium one. What you get for the difference is a menu built around things the other two do not sell, chicken livers, jumbo pap, sishebo, morogo, and a heat scale that runs from Lemon and Herb up to Extra Hot.

This page of Galito’s menu is organised by how many people you are feeding rather than by menu category, because that is the decision you are actually making. Full reference tables are further down if you want the whole list.

Best buys at Galito’s

  • Cheapest meal: any of the eight Value Meals at R39, such as the Chicken Livers Meal or a Snack Roll with chips.
  • Best meal for one: the Laduma Meal at R69, a quarter chicken with a side and a roll. The roll only costs R5 more than the plain quarter-chicken combo.
  • Best for two: the Hotbox 5 Piece at R124, which works out to R24.80 a piece with a side included.
  • Best for a family: the Value Pack at R199, a full chicken with two sides. Two Value Packs cost R71 less than the Kings Feast Platter if you don’t need the extra rolls.
  • Avoid: buying a quarter chicken (R49) and chips (R25) separately. That comes to R74, while the combo is R64.

First, Pick Your Heat

Every flame-grilled item comes basted in one of five flavours, and this choice costs nothing extra.

FlavourHeat

BBQNone

Extra HotSerious

Separately from the basting, Galito’s sells eight bottled sauces at R29 each. The Kings Feast Platter throws in a free Piri-Piri, which is the only place a sauce comes included.

Eating Alone

The cheapest real meal on the menu is R39, and there are eight of them at that price. Galito’s calls this the Value Meals range and it is the best value on the board by some distance.

Under R70PriceWhat you get
Chicken Livers MealR39Livers with a Portuguese roll, jumbo pap or spicy rice
Snack RollR39Pulled chicken and coleslaw on a roll, plus regular chips
Chicken Mayo Snack RollR39Pulled chicken, BBQ sauce, GaliMayo, cucumber, plus chips
Sticky Chicken & RiceR39Pulled chicken on spicy rice in BBQ, garlic, tomato and onion sauce
Sticky Chicken & PapR39Same sauce, served on pap
Saucy Strips & PapR39Grilled strips on jumbo pap and sishebo, topped with BBQ
1/4 ChickenR49Quarter flame-grilled chicken, nothing else
Chicken BurgerR49Flame-grilled fillet burger
Chicken CheeseburgerR54The above with cheese
1/4 Chicken + Chips, Pap or RiceR64Quarter chicken with one side
Chicken Burger + ChipsR64Burger with regular chips
Laduma MealR69Quarter chicken, a roll, and your choice of side
Chicken Cheeseburger + ChipsR69Cheeseburger with chips

The Laduma Meal is worth singling out. At R69 you get a quarter chicken, a side and a roll. The plain quarter chicken with a side is R64, so the roll costs you R5. That is the smallest upgrade on the menu and the one most people should take.

Going the other way, ordering a bare quarter chicken at R49 and adding chips separately at R25 comes to R74, which is R10 more than the R64 combo. Order the combo.

Feeding Two

MealPriceWhat you get
Double Up Snack RollsR752 snack rolls, 1 large chips
Hotbox 3 PieceR843 pieces plus one side
1/2 ChickenR89Half chicken on its own
1/2 Chicken + sideR104Half chicken with chips, pap or rice
Hotbox 5 PieceR1245 pieces plus one side
Halftime ScoreR129Half chicken, jumbo pap, chilli bean

The Hotbox range is the one to understand here. Five pieces at R124 works out to R24.80 a piece. Three pieces at R84 comes to R28 each. The bigger box is cheaper per piece, which is the usual pattern, but the gap is smaller than you might expect because both sizes include only one side.

The Mkhulu Meals

These deserve their own section because nothing on the Nando’s or Pedros menu resembles them. Mkhulu means grandfather, and the meals are built around chicken livers and Portuguese rolls alongside the grilled chicken.

MealPriceWhat you get
¼ Mkhulu MealR99Quarter chicken, a side, livers, one roll
½ Mkhulu MealR159Half chicken, a side, livers, two rolls

Both come with chips, jumbo pap or spicy rice. The quarter version at R99 is R35 more than a plain quarter chicken and chips, which buys you the livers and the roll. Livers on their own are R39 as a Value Meal, so the Mkhulu bundle is marginally cheaper than ordering the two separately.

Feeding a Family

MealPriceWhat you get
Full ChickenR175Full chicken, no sides
Hotbox 7 PieceR1797 pieces plus two sides
Value PackR199Full chicken plus two sides
Power FeastR229Full chicken, 2 jumbo pap, chilli bean
Filler PackR279Full chicken, 2 sides, 2 livers, 4 rolls
Full PackR299Full chicken, 2 large chips, 4 rolls, garden salad
Kings Feast PlatterR4692 full chickens, 2 snack rolls, 4 sides, free Piri-Piri

Two things worth knowing about this range.

A full chicken at R175 costs R3 less than two half chickens at R89 each. Not a meaningful saving, but it does mean there is no penalty for buying whole.

The Kings Feast at R469 gives you two full chickens plus extras. Two Value Packs would be R398 for the same two chickens and four sides. So the Kings Feast costs R71 more and adds two snack rolls, a free sauce, and a wider choice of sides. Whether that is worth it depends on how much you want the rolls.

Bowls and Burgers

The Hearty Bowls come in two sizes, and they are the most filling thing on the menu for the price.

BowlRegularLarge
Chicken Strips & RiceR65R99
GalibowlR75R119
Chicken Strips & Chilli BeanR75R119

The Galibowl layers grilled strips over spicy rice, spinach and potato morogo, and sishebo, topped with GaliMayo. It is the most distinctly South African item Galito’s sells.

BurgerAloneWith chips
Chicken BurgerR49R64
Chicken CheeseburgerR54R69
Double Chicken BurgerR74R89
Double Chicken CheeseburgerR84R99

Adding chips costs R15 across the whole burger range, which is R10 less than buying regular chips separately at R25.

Sides, Salads and Sauces

ItemPrice
Portuguese Roll with butterR15
Jumbo PapR20
Jumbo Pap + SisheboR25
Spicy RiceR25

Hand-cut Chips, regularR25
Chilli BeanR35
Spinach & Potato MorogoR35
Hand-cut Chips, largeR45
Garden SaladR49
Chicken SaladR69
Bottled sauceR29

Jumbo pap at R20 is the cheapest side. Adding sishebo for R5 more is one of the better small decisions available on this menu.

Vegetarians, Kids and Halaal

Vegetarians. Galito’s has no meat-free main course. Everything on the grill, the bowls and the burgers is chicken. You can put a meal together from the sides, though: jumbo pap with sishebo (R25), spinach and potato morogo (R35) and a garden salad (R49) come to R109 for a generous plate. If you eat strictly vegetarian, ask your branch how the sides are prepared. If you want a proper veg main, Nando’s sells a meat-free version of every burger, pita and wrap at the same price as the chicken one.

Kids. Galito’s doesn’t list a kids’ menu. The best options for a child are the R39 Value Meals, such as a Snack Roll with chips or Sticky Chicken and Rice, or a quarter chicken with a side for R64.

Halaal. Halaal status varies by branch, so check the certificate at your store. Our halaal fast food guide explains what a valid certificate looks like and which bodies issue them.

Where Galito’s Sits Against Nando’s and Pedros

All three grill their chicken over flame and all three lean Portuguese. On price they line up in a clear order.

PortionPedrosGalito’sNando’s
Quarter chickenR32.99R49R60
Half chickenR64.99R89R105
Full chickenR124.99R175R205

Galito’s lands between the two at every portion size. On a full chicken you pay R50 more than Pedros and save R30 against Nando’s.

What the extra buys you over Pedros is the sit-down side of things and a wider menu. What you give up against Nando’s is the restaurant format and the pita and bowl range. The livers, morogo, sishebo and pap are Galito’s own territory, and if those are what you want, neither of the others really competes.

Pizzalito’s

Galito’s runs a separate pizza offering called Pizzalito’s, listed on its own section of the official site rather than the main menu. Availability is limited to selected stores, so it is worth checking whether your branch carries it before planning an order around it.
