Mochachos Menu Prices in South Africa (2026)
Last updated:
Mochachos is the Mexican flame-grilled chicken chain South Africa grew for itself. It started in Pretoria in 1994, back when it traded as Mochachos Steak Villages, and it now runs more than 100 outlets around the country. The idea is simple: chicken marinated in dry Mexican spices, butterflied and grilled over a flame, sold next to burritos, nachos and fajitas instead of the usual burger-and-chips line-up. The chain’s own line is “spicy but not hot”, and the menu backs that up. Most items come in five heat levels, and the mild end is genuinely mild.
This page lists the full menu with prices: the grilled chicken, the burgers, the Mexican meals, schwarmas, family packs, kids meals, sides, desserts and drinks. Where delivery costs more, that price is shown next to the in-store price so you can see the gap before you order.
How These Prices Were Checked
In-store prices below are the national menu prices, checked on 6 November 2026 against the official Mochachos menu as published in September 2026 and cross-checked against a second compilation from July 2026. The two agree exactly on the core menu. The delivery column comes from the Mochachos store on Uber Eats at Kolonnade in Pretoria, checked on 5 November 2026. One honest warning: the Mexican meals section (quesadillas, enchiladas, chimichangas) shows the widest spread between older and newer listings, with some branches still charging the older, lower prices. If your local quotes less than the table below on those dishes, that is why. Drinks and desserts at the bottom come from the chain’s standard published menu, because the newest compilation does not price them.
Flame-Grilled Chicken
The chicken is the reason the chain exists. It is butterflied, dry-spiced and flame-grilled, and you pick the heat: Lemon and Herb, Mild, Hot, Extra Hot or Dynamite. There is no saucy peri-peri bath here, the flavour is in the spice rub, which puts Mochachos in a different lane from Pedros and the other flame-grilled chains on price as well as taste, as the comparison further down shows.
| Item | In store | On Uber Eats |
|---|---|---|
| Quarter chicken | R49.90 | R59.90 |
| Half chicken | R94.90 | R114.90 |
| Full chicken | R179.90 | R219.90 |
| Quarter chicken with Beeg Chips | R72.90 | R86.90 |
| Quarter chicken with pap and Mexican sauce | R64.90 | R76.90 |
| Quarter chicken, Beeg Chips and a Buddy drink | R95.90 | Not listed |
| Half chicken, Beeg Chips and a Buddy drink | R139.90 | R159.90 |
The quarter at R49.90 is the anchor price, and the pap and Mexican sauce version at R64.90 is the best-value plate on this part of the menu if you want more than chips. Delivery adds R10 to R40 depending on the size, and the full chicken takes the biggest jump, R179.90 in store against R219.90 delivered.
Chicken Burgers, Beef Burgers and Lamb
Mochachos chicken burgers are oversized fillet burgers rather than the small patties most chains sell, and the range is wide. Every burger below can be doubled, and a slice of cheese or pineapple adds R10.00.
| Burger | Single | Double |
|---|---|---|
| Chicken Burger | R59.90 | R79.90 |
| Chicken Cheese Burger | R69.90 | R89.90 |
| Chicken Cheese and Pine Burger | R79.90 | Not listed |
| Gourmet Chicken Burger | R74.90 | Not listed |
| Jalapeño Cheese Burger | R69.90 | Not listed |
| Nacho Crunch Gourmet Burger | R79.90 | Not listed |
| Mexican Crumbed Burger | R64.90 | Not listed |
| Chicken Strip and Cheese Burger | R69.90 | Not listed |
| Beef Burger (150g) | R69.90 | Not listed |
| Gourmet Beef Burger | R84.90 | Not listed |
| Mexican Lamb Burger | R69.90 | Not listed |
On Uber Eats the same burgers run about R10 higher: the single Chicken Burger is R69.90 delivered and the double is R89.90. The single Chicken Burger at R59.90 in store is the sweet spot of the range. The Nacho Crunch at R79.90 costs the same as a double standard burger, so the choice is crunch and nacho cheese against a second fillet.
Mexican Meals: Burritos, Enchiladas, Fajitas and More
This is the section no other big chicken chain in South Africa really offers. Every dish comes with chicken or rump steak, and the steak version is a flat R10 more across the board.
| Dish | Chicken | Rump steak |
|---|---|---|
| Burrito | R74.90 | R84.90 |
| Chimichanga | R79.90 | R89.90 |
| Enchilada | R94.90 | R104.90 |
| Nachos | R109.90 | R119.90 |
| Quesadilla | R109.90 | R119.90 |
| Fajitas | R129.90 | R139.90 |
The Chicken Burrito at R74.90 is the dish most people order first, and it holds up as the best value in this section: a full meal in one wrap for less than a gourmet burger. The quesadilla and nachos at R109.90 are priced for sharing rather than for one hungry person. As noted above, this section varies the most by branch and by listing date, so treat these as the current national figures and do not be surprised if a branch menu shows a few rand less.
Schwarmas and Light Meals
Mochachos schwarmas are sold in chicken, rump steak and veggie versions. The current national in-store list does not publish a standalone schwarma price, so here are the live Uber Eats prices from the Kolonnade store, checked 5 November 2026: chicken schwarma R94.90, rump steak schwarma R104.90, veggie schwarma R94.90, and a schwarma with Beeg Chips and a Buddy drink at R144.90. In store you should pay less than those delivery figures.
| Light meal | In store |
|---|---|
| Three Chicken Strips and Dip | R39.90 |
| Mexican Chicken Livers and a Bun | R44.90 |
| Mexican Chicken Pieces with Rice | R54.90 |
| Four Full BBQ Wings | R69.90 |
| Six Chicken Strips, Chips and Dip | R79.90 |
Combos
| Combo | In store |
|---|---|
| 2 Chicken Fillet Combo | R84.90 |
| 4 BBQ Wings and Beeg Chips | R89.90 |
| Quarter Chicken Combo | R95.90 |
| Chicken Burger Combo | R99.90 |
| Nacho Crunch Combo | R114.90 |
| Chicken Burrito Combo | R119.90 |
| Chicken Schwarma Combo | R124.90 |
| Amigo Combo (half chicken, Beeger chips, 2 Bunz) | R139.90 |
| 8 BBQ Wings and Beeger Chips | R169.90 |
The Amigo Combo is the one built for two people splitting a bill: a half chicken, the bigger chips and two rolls for R139.90, which works out at about R70 a head before drinks.
Family Meals
| Family meal | What is in it | In store | On Uber Eats |
|---|---|---|---|
| Family Variety | Half chicken, 2 chicken burgers, Beegest chips or wedges | R249.90 | R299.90 |
| Family Feast | Full chicken, Beegest chips or wedges, 4 Bunz | R259.90 | R309.90 |
| Family Fiesta | Full chicken, Beegest chips or wedges, Beegest coleslaw or garden salad, 4 Bunz | R289.90 | R339.90 |
| Family Share Meal | 2 chicken burgers, 2 kiddies chicken burgers, 6 strips and dip, Beegest chips | R299.90 | R339.90 |
| Family Treat | 2 full chickens, 2 Beegest chips or wedges, 8 Bunz, Beegest coleslaw or garden salad | R539.90 | R619.90 |
Two notes on this table. First, one older listing still shows the Family Feast at R249.90; the current national price is R259.90. Second, the delivery gap grows with the box: the Family Treat costs R80 more on Uber Eats than in store, the biggest markup on the menu, so big family orders are worth collecting yourself. On value, the Family Variety at R249.90 feeds four at about R62.50 a head, and the Family Treat at R539.90 spreads across six to eight people at roughly R67 to R90 a head, with two whole chickens doing the heavy lifting.
Kids Meals, Sides and Salads
The Bambino kids meals (José, Pedro, Speedy and Juanita) are R69.90 each and include chips, a fruit juice and a free toy. Sides use Mochachos sizes, Beeg, Beeger and Beegest, and the chips and wedges are priced the same:
| Side | Beeg | Beeger | Beegest |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chips or Potato Wedges | R28.90 | R39.90 | R64.90 |
| Loaded Chips | R38.90 | R44.90 | R72.90 |
| Onion Rings | R22.90 | R39.90 | R53.90 |
| Mexican Rice | R28.90 | R39.90 | R52.90 |
| Pap and Mexican Sauce | R22.90 | R28.90 | Not listed |
Dipz (salsa, guacamole, peri-mayo or sweet chilli) are R8.90 each and a single Bun is R8.90. Salads come in two sizes: a Grilled Chicken Salad is R54.90 or R89.90, a Greek Salad R34.90 or R52.90, and a Garden Salad or Coleslaw R28.90 or R39.90.
Desserts, Shakes and Drinks
Churros are the signature dessert. The delivery price is R44.90 for three and R77.90 for six, with chocolate or caramel dip; in store they run lower. Milkshakes (chocolate, banana, strawberry, bubblegum or lime, 350ml) are R32.90, and the Freezos, Coffee, Toffee Caramel or White Chocolate, are R42.90 for 350ml. Homemade Quenchers (lemon or peach iced tea, ginger beer, lemonade) are R28.90. Coffee is simple: an Americano or espresso is R22.90 and a cappuccino or caffè latte is R26.90. Soft drinks run from R21.90 for a can and R23.90 for a Buddy bottle to R32.90 for a 1.5 litre bottle, with still or sparkling water at R20.90 and Appletiser or Grapetiser at R26.90.
Mochachos vs Pedros and Galito’s on Price
On plain grilled chicken, Mochachos is not the cheapest seat at the table. A quarter chicken is R49.90 here against R32.99 at Pedros, a gap of R16.91, and our Barcelos vs Pedros comparison shows the same pattern across that end of the market. Against Galito’s it is a dead heat: a Galito’s quarter is R49.15, just 75 cents less, and its half and full chickens (R89.15 and R169.15 on the Galito’s menu) undercut Mochachos by R5.75 and R10.75. What the extra money buys at Mochachos is the range around the chicken: burritos, nachos, fajitas and schwarmas that neither rival sells, plus the dry-spice flavour profile. If all you want is the cheapest quarter chicken, Pedros wins. If you want a Mexican meal built around grilled chicken, Mochachos is the only big chain doing it. Is Mochachos Halaal?
Mochachos has been affiliated with SANHA, the South African National Halaal Authority, since 2004, and many of its restaurants are halaal certified. Certification is held per store, though, not as one blanket promise across all 100-plus outlets, and SANHA’s own commended list names individual stores such as Rosebank, Mall of the South and Laudium. If halaal matters for your order, check the certificate at your specific branch before you buy. The Uber Eats listing for the Kolonnade store used for the delivery prices on this page is tagged Halal.
